Worried about a bee sting?

If you are stung by a honeybee,
use your thumbnail
to scrape the stinger away
(don't pinch)!
Take a penny and tape it
to the site of the sting.
The copper in the coin may help
your body neutralize the venom
from the bee.

More Bee Lore:  apitherapy is the practice of allowing bees to therapeutically sting the site of arthritis pain;  honey is said to reduce or eliminate the agony of poison oak/ivy/sumac in one application;  ancient Egyptians used honey
to heal battle wounds on horses and soldiers.
Bees must consume eight to ten pounds of honey to produce one pound of beeswax.

Young worker bees secrete pure white droplets of wax called scales. One pound of beeswax contains approximately 800,000 scales.

The oldest known notebooks used sheets of beeswax for pages. Recovered from ancient Mediterranean shipwrecks, stylus marks pressed in the wax pages can still be read after centuries on the sea floor.
